Common Loon

This bird has come to represent the Canadian wilderness. Its haunting call across still waters brings back the sense of awe and wonder and evokes many pleasant memories for me. In this particular piece I have cut the feathers in deeply to create a sense of fluff. Loons do fluff themselves up when they preen and have such a crisp clean look. This bird has been one of my most popular subjects.
