Brown Pelican II
|
Once an endangered species Brown Pelicans which we see up and down the west coast, have made a marvelous recovery. It was after DDT was outlawed in 1972 that they began their comeback. Perhaps you have watched them soaring in long staggered lines, inches above the surf, alternately flapping and gliding in unison. I have depicted this one holding his neck back as if to say that's close enough. This carving was stolen from Kariton House Art Gallery March 19, 2004.
